A pleasant country

Spain is one of those countries that you have to visit at least once in your lifetime; it is incredibly beautiful and extremely diverse, so try to spend at least a few days there: you will fall in love with it! It is in Spain where you will find mountains, but it is also in Spain where you will enjoy the beauty of the sea, the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean and its perfect blue color. Spain is also renowned for being a country that attracts with its rich history, the unbelievably beautiful architectural styles, the amazing culture, the wonderful customs and traditions, the spectacular modern, cosmopolite big cities and the charming, traditional villages. It is impossible not to love it! The country has thousands and thousands of tourist attractions, but there is one that I particularly want to recommend you: El Mercadal.
 
The beautiful El Mercadal

El Mercadal patiently waits for its visitors just a few kilometers to the northwest of Alaior or to be more exact, exactly nine kilometers. Es Mercadal will look like coming out from within the hills, as it is squatting among them from the very heart and centre of the island. It is an old market town that especially those who love the history of Spain and its past will enjoy, as it looks like it is a small piece of the amazing past that this wonderful country has. It is a town where you will be welcomed by charming whitewashed houses and by trim allotments, so prepare for a spectacular view! While in El Mercadal, make sure you don’t miss the restaurant that waits for its clients on the Calle Miranda at number 30: Can Aguedet.

The restaurant serves a lot of delicious dishes, but you are not allowed to miss the tasty Menorcan cuisine. The village of Deia

Deia is just a village situated about 10 kilometers away from Soller, but it is an incredibly beautiful one. The powerful, mighty and imposing Puig des Teix meets in this place the shores of the coast and even though its slopes are now packed with the villas of the rich and famous, the mountain still managed to keep alive much of its original presence, the imposing one that offers the picturesque panoramas that surround the village. The main street in Deia is the perfect place for you if you want to enjoy the beauty of the hotels and villas in the village; it is also the place that sometimes gets crowded and congested in a very special manner that manages to keep the tranquility so typical for the village. The alleys of the village seem like a labyrinth of peasant houses that curl up to a beautiful, tiny and charming church where tourists can visit the grave of the famous Robert Graves, the poet who represents the most important figure for the village of Deia. The graveyard offers spectacular views over the picturesque coast, so you should visit it if you decide to spend a few days in Deia.

Valencia

One of the most important destinations for a beach holiday in Spain and the Mediterranean coast is the region of Valencia, the kingdom of citrus fruit, characterized by a rugged coastline on a background of hills and fields. The impulse was given to agriculture by Muslim invaders centuries ago; the citrus groves along the coast are still the main vegetable growing areas of Spain.

The primary location in Valencia is the Baroque and Renaissance buildings which reflect the long history of the region. The city has totally changed in recent decades, with innovative architecture and regeneration of the coast. The coast of Valencia has become a very popular resort area, ideal for water sports of different kinds. The main towns on the coast are Benidorm, Benicassim, La Manga del Mar Menor and Oropesa. Most of the population lives in large cities such as Valencia, Alicante and Cartagena.

The rich history of Barcelona

The rich history of Barcelona ??has always been open to outside influences due to its coastal location and proximity to France. Its history ranges from archaeological finds of the past to contemporary masterpieces, through the Gothic, the base of the modem, and the Catalan art nouveau.

 It is also the home to several museums displaying the works of famous painters of the twentieth century, including Miro, Picasso and Tapies. The cultural life is alive and dynamic, with shows in the Gran Teatre del Liceu and concerts in the Auditorium Rafael Moneo.

Barcelona is the main travel destination in Spain, and it can be visited with guided tours in one day. However, to get to know the city, travel packages are recommended for 3 or 7 days. The city tour usually starts from the Barri Gotic, or Gothic Quarter, the center of old Barcelona. In this area the buildings, the Cathedral of Barcelona, ??a magnificent building of the fourteenth century, and the elegant shops show the visitors the Catalan artistic splendor.

The port area was completely rehabilitated in the '90s; today it is a place of culture and Mediterranean fare. The old port is dominated by the huge statue of Christopher Columbus raised on a column of 60 m.

The main street of this area, Las Ramblas, is the most famous street in Spain, busy at all hours of day and night.
South of Las Ramblas is a modern new district, Raval, home of the Museum of Contemporary Art. To the north, La Ribera and El Born testify to the rich history of the city, while to the west, the Eixample district is home to most of the monument's Nuveau art, such as La Sagrada Familia. Capolaovoro, still unfinished, and Casa Mila, have avant-garde works of the famous architect Antoni Gaudi. Barcelona ?? has more Art Nouveau buildings than any city in the world.

The imposing castle of Montjuic built in the seventeenth century and located on top of the homonymous hill, offer panoramic views of the city and harbor. The Palau Nacional now houses the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya, with an extraordinary collection of medieval art.

Visitors to the city will enjoy a little 'relaxation in the Parc de la Ciutadella, where green gardens offer opportunities for walking, but also to make a boat trip on the lake or visit the zoo and the nearby natural history museum.

The Pyrenees mountain biking

Do you like adventure sports? Are you biking enthusiasts who like to be out in the sun and ride the bike? Do you like mountains?

If the answer to any of the questions is yes, you should travel to Spain to enjoy one of the best mountain biking experiences in the world. The beautiful clean and green mountains will give you the adrenaline rush that you always wanted to enjoy, sitting on a bike.

The season to tour:

Between March and November, venture into the Pyrenees mountain biking. The ski resorts of Formigal, Cerler Panticosa Javalambre, Valdelinares and their surroundings have arranged several tours for cycling, provided there is no snow.

Tours in spring and autumn:

These tours are open from 26th of March to 30th of June and 1st of September to 30th of November. They are: -
Giro del Montsec which is around 111 kilometers, two or three days are needed to complete it. On your way you will cross three mountain passes, admire spectacular views and cross several inhabited villages.

Giro Isabana: its 110 miles and elevation of approximately 3000 meters require good physical strength. It is a circuit of cultural interest since it allows you to discover the geological heritage of Ribagorza. On your way you will see old abandoned farms. To cover the entire route, two or three days are needed.

Ribagorza Grand Tour: the combination of the two previous circuits can form a total of 240 km. It is recommended to spend two to five days for it. Here the most interesting points are the peak of Morrón Güel (1406 meters) and views of the Sierra de Sis.

Summer Tours:

These tours open from May 28th to October 12th are as follows:

Turbón Tour: This 110 km route takes both paths, several cantonal sections of roads and trails. Across the region Ribagorza around the massif Turbón, this is an exciting sports challenge, it is recommended to perform it in two days.

Pirin Epic Trail: its descents and steep climbs in the heart of the Pyrenees make it increasingly difficult. A total of 235 miles across regions and Ribagorza Sobrarbe, it is advisable to cover it between three and five days.

Tena-Xtrem Pro / Lite: along about 110 kilometers, it has two variants. The "Pro" is an extremely difficult road, a challenge for villa lloret even the most experienced, the "Lite" or small Tena road is itself a goal within reach of good "bikers".

The Tourism at Almeria

As we all know, the countryside can sometimes have that desert-like look. Almeria is one such countryside. This city attained its pinnacle almost a thousand years ago and during that time, the city was an important port for the Moors. But in the 12th century, Almeria experienced a series of devastating earthquakes which caused its fall. Over the centuries, Almeria recuperated from the catastrophe and today has a healthy agricultural industry. Hosting the Mediterranean Games in 2005 also helped make it known again.

One of the best tourist spots, where the ports of Alcazaba and Rambla de Belen are located, is the cathedral which was built where a mosque formerly stood. More often than not, the Moriscos attack the Almerians during the construction of such cathedrals which is the very reason why it appears to look a bit like a rampart on the outside. When you walk into the cathedral, you’ll notice the interior where the Immaculate Concepcion painting is displayed and other exceptional masterpieces. When you turn your head toward the left portion of the area, you will find the Casa de los Puche that is said to be the oldest infrastructure in Almeria built centuries

On top of all that, Almeria has even more to offer! The Alcazaba hilltop had always been a magnet-like place for most tourists and even for the locals. This place contains gigantic towering walls which are a concrete example of an architectural block against the Moorish people. This wall was mandated by the Cordoba’s Caliph and was built in the tenth century. In the year 1489, Almeria was recaptured and the rulers commanded to further develop the walls.

Almeria is otherwise popular for the tapas bars commonly located at the Paseo de Almeria. Night clubs and bars aren’t in the zone in this area. So expect no evening gimmicks. The place also has wonderful meals to boast of such as the Sardines with Hot Sauce (Escabeche e Sardines), Clam Stew (Gachas), and Pork Stew and Wheat Grains (Trigo).

You can find the train station at the Plaza de la Estacion. It is approximately half a mile from ferienhaus spanien the heart of the city. If you plan to go to Granada and Seville, you won’t have any trouble catching a ride because there are direct routes there. But if you want to go to Malaga and Cordoba, you’ll have to take the Bobadilla route. Bus terminals are located on the northern side of Almeria. Prospects of tourism in spain

The season for holidays in Spain is expected to be very promising, at least if you consider the results of the survey on travel behavior (Habitur) by the Institute of Tourism Studies.

During the study, the 15,000 foreign tourists who were interviewed spent at least one night in Spain during 2010. These results were most encouraging and anticipated that 59.8% of foreign tourists who visited the country last year will repeat the experience in 2011. This indicates that six out of ten visitors will return to Spain.

UK tourists make up the largest group of travelers who anticipate returning to the country in 2011. 68.5% chose this response, while in second place are the German tourists with 56%. The Italians answered the survey with a 53.2% return rate.

Interestingly, it is tourists who visited the country in the off-peak season who were the majority of respondents saying they wanted to return the following year. By contrast, the largest number of tourists who did not want to return in 2011 visited the country in the peak season.

The survey also revealed that 72% of foreign travelers repeat their travel experience to visit family and friends.

Nature trails and eco-tourism in Spain

The supply of travel destinations in Spain has been increased in line with the new “Natural Roads Program” created and overseen by the Ministry of Environment of Spain. With the aim to highlight and preserve the natural areas of the country, the program has been in effect since 1993 and today comprises 82 circuits totaling more than 4,000 km of hiking and nature trails.

With this initiative, the Ministry seeks to bring people back to their natural environment with the possibility of engaging in outdoor activities such as trekking and hiking. At the same time, the Ministry is trying to attain sustainable rural development and to assist with environmental education.

The budget for this program has been aimed at the improvement and expansion of these routes as well as the promotion of the program. So far, total investment was EUR 3.45 million with the ultimate goal of achieving a responsible tourist use of the natural and cultural heritage of Spain.
