The outstanding city of zaragoza

The beautiful Zaragoza

Zaragoza is one of those Spanish cities that you immediately fall in love with even without having an exact reason. Situated about 250 kilometers to the north east of Madrid and at almost the same distance from Barcelona, Zaragoza occupies a sunny spot on one of the warmest Spanish coasts. Zaragoza became famous due to the fact it plays the role of capital of the Aragon province, one of the most popular among tourists. The city attracts visitors with the modern and populous aspect and with the absolutely excellent avenues such as Gran Via, Sagasta or La Independencia. However, Zaragoza is mainly appealing for tourists due to the fact that the mass tourism hasn’t succeeded in changing it and its original atmosphere. Most of those who visit Spain don’t even know that Zaragoza is much more than just a simple train station that connects the capital Madrid with the famous and beautiful Barcelona, because Zaragoza never received too much publicity and attention from the government.

Visiting Zaragoza

If you decide to get off the train in order to spend some quality time in Zaragoza, I assure you that you will not be disappointed. The old town is the main attraction, so you have to visit it, as this is the place where you will find the best restaurants in Zaragoza, the authentic ones that serve the delicious Aragon cooking. The old town is also the part of the town that hosts the wonderful historical monuments; make sure you visit the Moorish Alijaferia Castle, an outstanding example of Arab architecture, the old Roman Forum, the last proof from the time of the Romans, the Virgin Mary Sanctuary or the beautiful Basilica del Pillar. The sightseeing list should also include the impressive old Cathedral known under the name of La Seu, a monument dating back to the 14th century that manages to attract visitors with its splendid Museum of Tapestries. The Fine Arts Museum is another big attraction in Zaragoza, as it hosts collections with works belonging to great artists such as Goya, El Greco, Rubens, Velasquez, Rembrandt, Renoir or Van Dyck. In 2008, the city hosted the famous International Expo, having as theme Water and the Sustainable ferienwohnungen spanien Development. Every five years, similar expositions are being held, having themes of the most diverse. Every exposition lasts for 6 months, so visiting Zaragoza during one of them can be a very interesting experience. Enjoy!

Visiting pamplona for the san fermin festival

The San Fermin Festival

If you want to travel to Spain in order to take part in one of its famous festivals, then you should go to Pamplona and visit during the San Fermin Festival. The world-renowned festival is the typical, traditional Spanish fiesta which millions of people dream of seeing. The festival is known by the Spaniards as ‘’Sanfermines’’ and it celebrates San Fermin, the patron saint of Pamplona, the popular city situated in the Basque country. Visit the city between July 6th and July 14th and you will be part of a great Spanish tradition that has taken place for centuries, a celebration of the pure Spanish spirit and the ancient traditions of this spectacular country.

The festival and its traditions

The San Fermin Festival became famous due to the running of the bulls. An 800-meter long stretch is the distance along which 6 bulls, each weighing at least half a ton, are allowed to run freely. Those who want a big dose of adrenaline and have the necessary courage to do so run in front of them. This tradition attracts the interest of thousands of tourists who overrun Pamplona during the one week in which the festival falls. However, this is not the only tradition in which you will be taking part. The festival incorporates in just one week a series of traditions and festivals that are centuries old. For example, the running of the bulls seems to date back to the 14th century.

What to expect during the festival

You should know that when you see the ‘’chupizano’’, that is, the firing rocket, the festival is starting and you should hurry in order not to miss any activities. Thousands of locals meet in the main square of the city, right in front of the town hall, and start popping location lloret de mar Cava corks and spraying everyone with the wine. Then they put on the famous red neckerchiefs and the party is ready to begin. The moment that most attracts tourists is the ‘’Encierro’’, or the bull running, as every single morning six bulls are released by the locals on the streets of the city. The job is a very dangerous one as fatalities have been recorded as well as hundreds of severe injuries. While in Pamplona, you should also witness a ‘corrida’’ that takes places in the city’s bull ring, as it really is a show that you simply cannot miss. After this, enjoy the good food and drink, the music and the late-night partying and make sure you have a lot of fun!

The sunny tarifa

Tarifa yesterday and today

Tarifa used to be until the 1980s just a quiet village that became famous in Spain for something very unusual: a very high suicide rate thought to be provoked by the unremitting winds that sometimes seem to take the control over the entire Tarifa. Nowadays, what spreads between the old Moorish walls is a very prosperous and popular tourist resort that became the first option for those who want to practice windsurfing in Europe. All year round dozens of windsurfing competitions are held here and the main street is packed with shops that offer rental equipment for all types of pockets; this is the reason why so many of Tarifa’s visitors are people who love windsurfing.

Tarifa and its attractions

If the reason why you decide to visit Tarifa is not windsurfing, don’t worry about getting bored, because it is definitely not the case. Many of those who visit Tarifa love to wander along the appealing, crumbling ramparts and to enjoy the wonderful views over the sea. The beautiful network of lanes surrounding the outstanding San Mateo Church is another big attraction of Tarifa; the Church displays a beautiful Baroque architectural style dating back to the 15th century and it occupies one of the main spots on the sightseeing list in Tarifa. If sightseeing is something that attracts you, also visit the Guzman Castle, the place where many fights were given for the power over Tarifa, especially during the Moors.

A very popular entertainment option in Tarifa is quite new, but extremely interesting: the dolphin and whale spotting. Tourists can choose a beautiful excursion that takes them to the amazing Strait of Gibraltar, as many ships leave daily form the picturesque harbor. However, you should know that this is a very popular entertainment opportunity, so you have to book places much in advance in order to make sure that you don’t miss the excursion.

Useful information

Paseo la Alameda is the avenue where you will find the tourism office; visitors can be helped with maps of the town and its main attractions, as well as with information regarding the accommodation possibilities and the best places for trying the local cuisine. For example, you can try the Cadiz sea bream (known by Spaniards as urta) at the Hostal Villanueva or the Platos ferienhaus lloret de mar combinados serves at the Restaurante Alameda. Visit Tarifa during one of your Spanish holidays; I am sure that you will have a few memorable days there!

Spending your holiday in manilva

The city of Manilva

Manilva is a beautiful city that started to attract thousands of tourists in the last few years; you will find it on the eastern side of the beautiful Costa del Sol, just 12 kilometers away from Estepona and about 35 kilometers away from Marbella. If you plan a holiday somewhere along the Costa del Sol, take into consideration directing some of your attention to Manilva; I am sure that a few days spent in this charming Spanish town will turn out to be very relaxing ones. Even though Manilva is very closely situated to some bustling and agitated cities, it managed to keep its spirit pure and its traditional atmosphere alive; the mass tourism is not a problem in Manilva, the property boom is not a problem either, so don’t worry about the fact that you will not have a good time in Manilva, as this is not possible. You will certainly live a typical Spanish experience if you decide to visit this small, but charming town.

Waiting to be discovered

Manilva can’t even be called a town; it is more like a village, but a village that still keeps its ‘’pueblo’’ features. Probably this is one of the reasons why so many tourists just pass by Manilva, without giving it too much attention. This is a big mistake, as you can’t even imagine how charming can Manilva be. Most of the tourists who are heading towards Gibraltar prefer to offer some of their attention to Manilva’s more interesting neighbors; well, they don’t know that these neighbors are just more famous, not necessarily more original and beautiful than ferienhäuser lloret de mar Manilva. Its charm comes from the fact that it is a very authentic village that fought along the centuries to keep its traditions and its customs alive. You can’t blame it for trying to remain the same way it used to be centuries ago. I assure you that you will fall in love with its whitewashed houses, with the relaxed atmosphere of a fishing village, with the quiet golf course, the picturesque orchards that surround it (as agriculture is one of its main occupations) and with the bars and restaurants that serve you some of the most delicious traditional dishes that will melt your hearts and nourish your senses. If you need some excitement and more energetic activities, just go for a few hours to Estepona or to Marbella, but do go back to Manilva and try to breathe its essence through all your pores!

The history of Malaga was enriched by the many civilizations that at one time or another in the past were interested in the city and ruled over it. With the dawn of the Roman Empire, the difficult days of Malaga started as the city began to be affected by impressive migrations coming from the German tribes. However in the 8th century, the Arabs conquered Malaga and put their fingerprints on some of the most beautiful and impressive monuments that can still be seen today. 734 was the exact year when Malaga entered under Arab dominance and the year when its most flourishing period began; it was this same period when the wall and the five gates of the city were built as well as the beautiful Alcazaba, the monument that most attracts the interest of tourists. Last but not the least, it was the Christians who conquered the city and this is the way in which the beautiful Malaga became the spectacular city that it is today.

Beautiful Monuments in Marbella

The Marbella Castle

A holiday in Marbella is definitely going to be a memorable one, thanks to the beauty of the resort and its attractions. If you decide to spend a few days there, you should give some of your attention to its spectacular monuments. You are sure to fall in love with them. For example, a tourist simply cannot miss Marbella Castle. You will find its ruins in the charming historic center of Marbella, situated very close to the beautiful Orange Square. The castle is the only monument that remains from the period of Muslim occupation, so it is quite interesting to visit.

The Roman Village

Rio Verde is the place where you will find the handprints of the Romans. Some Roman remains were discovered here in the 18th century, but 1960 is the year when an entire Roman village was discovered by the famous archaeologist Carlos Posac Mon. While there, be sure to visit the beautiful patio and the twelve rooms.

The Old Town

Like many other Spanish cities, Marbella has a beautiful Old Town that represents a main attraction for tourists. The Old Town is really a ‘’must see’’ on your list because almost everything that you will see there dates back to the 16th century and remains as it was built so many centuries ago. This well-preserved area is very popular among tourists, who also have the opportunity to buy souvenirs here as these streets form a huge commercial center for the city.

The Incarnation

If you visit the Old Town and Orange Square, take a few minutes and stop in front of the Incarnation Church. It is located in the center of one of the most charming and beautiful squares in Marbella and is also one of the oldest churches in the city as it was built in 1618. However, some changes were made to its countenance in 1712 and in 1756.

The Museum of Contemporary Spanish Engravings

If you love art, especially contemporary art, you should visit the Engravings Museum. You will fall in love with all the collections displayed here, but most especially with the ones belonging to artists such as Picasso, Goya, Chillida or Miro.

The Vega Del Mar Basilica

This Visigoth monument dates back to the 6th century, but it was only at the beginning of this century that the Basilica was discovered. You should take the time to visit ferienhäuser costa brava as this Basilica is one of the few monuments in Spain which dates as far back as its Paleolithic Period.

SEVILLE AND ITS BEAUTIES

A few words about a beautiful city
Seville is located in the southern region of Spain, making it one of the Spanish cities that enjoy the perfect climate for a spectacular holiday. This city is very important, not only for tourism in Spain but also for its economy and politics. It plays the role of provincial capital as it is the home of the Andalusian regional government. Seville is situated on a picturesque plain of the famous Guadalquivir River, the river that bisects the entire city from north to south. This allows the 700,000 inhabitants of Seville to enjoy the beautiful landscape that surrounds their city. The promenade along the Guadalquivir River is the perfect place for a romantic walk. However, the importance of the Guadalquivir River is far more than just being a beautiful place to take a stroll. Ships can navigate up the river to the Atlantic Coast, so Seville has played an important role in commerce since its founding. Commerce between Spain and the two Americas was far easier with the help of the Guadalquivir River. The river continues to be a major avenue of commerce, so Seville continues to be an important river port to this day.
The history of an interesting city
Seville was founded with the help of the Tartessians, the ones who founded Hispalis. After they founded Hispalis, the Romans took control and built Italica, a city very close to Seville. Soon Seville was built and was ruled for centuries by the Romans, until the Northern Barbarians arrived and conquered it. The Barbarians lost control of the area to the Moors, so the city that you see today is a very interesting combination of different architectural styles as every culture left its mark on every corner of the city. The 17th century was the most important period in the history of Seville, as this period was its most flourishing time. This is the century when Seville gave birth to some of the most important painters and sculptors of Spain. These artists left their works behind as their legacy, as is the case with the great Diego Velasquez and Martinez Montanes. Since you are in Seville, you will not be allowed to miss tasting its famous tapas. Seville is world renowned for being the birthplace of the delicious tapas. Thousands of bars and pubs are spread all over the city, waiting for their visitors to enjoy a cool drink and have a taste of this delicious Spanish dish. Enjoy the perfect holiday in ferienhaus costa blanca you have always dreamt of and head to Seville!
