Andalucia And Its Beautiful Huelva

The perfect holiday location

Huelva is that place in Spain that offers you an idyllic location of an unbelievable natural beauty with an air of authentic Spain and some of the most marvelous beaches you have ever seen. You’ll find Huelva in the beautiful province of Andalusia, somewhere along the picturesque Costa de Luz and it represents the biggest concentration of top beaches in Spain; this makes Huelva the ideal destination for a summer holiday. What will also impress you in Huelva are the immense diversity and the 3000 hours of sunshine that the area receives every single year. A third of its entire extension is occupied by the amazing Donana Nature Reserve, one of the biggest and most important wetlands reserve not only in the country, but in the continent. Those who love nature will also fall in love with the reserve, as it is the home of about 365 species, out of which 5 of them are endangered, such as the Egyptian mongoose or the Iberian lynx. Those who want to enjoy the beauties of the park can do it by either going on a guided tour, trekking, horseback riding or even 4x4 trips.

Other attractions of the province

Huelva is also the province that hosts the El Rocio village, the one that became famous as it is an important spot on the pilgrimage map: the Rocio Virgin is the reason why thousands of people visit the village during the famous Romeria Del Rocio festival. The city of Huelva is the capital of the province; it is an industrial city, but this does not mean that you won’t have entertainment opportunities. Sightseeing is very important in Huelva, so make sure you visit the Barrio Obrero, the beautiful Cathedral, the few churches spread all over the city (each displaying another architectural style) or the Provincial Museum, the place where you have the chance to see a series of archaeological artifacts that tell the story of Huelva. The Sierra de Aracena area is another place of great interest, a picturesque mountain range that will win your hearts with its breathtaking landscapes. If these are enough for you and you decided to visit Huelva, choose for accommodation the Fuerte El Rompnido Hotel, located on the Costa de Luz in a spectacular natural setting. Another great option is represented by the Islantilla Golf Resort, a golf course and hotel complex with excellent ferienhäuser spanien services for tourists. Enjoy Huelva!

Amazing archeological Alicante museums

Besides the fun in the sun on the beautiful sandy beaches at Alicante, you can complete your holiday vacation with a truly enlightening discovery of a different kind. There may not be many historical sites for your viewing pleasure but you will certainly enjoy the history uncovered in many of the archaeological treasures of this region with its wide range of traditional costume collections and excellent paintings.

Out of the many amazing archeological museum offerings in Alicante, the best has to be MARQ, which is the main archeology museum in Alicante that showcases many interesting pieces.

MARQ – Archeology museum

This museum was established in the year 1932 but in 2002, it took over San Juan provincial hospital. MARQ museum is considered as Alicante’s most distinguished museums with its impressive avant-garde design. Inside, the museum employs modern audiovisual techniques which make viewing of the artifacts and understanding the rich local history so appealing and rewarding. The MARQ museum has been awarded the prestigious European “Museum of the Year” recognition in the year 2004.

In its collection, there are over 80,000 pieces of artifacts that were found in many local archaeological sites. With these wonderful discoveries, you are taken through a thorough journey of Alicante’s history that runs from as far back as the Stone Age to the Iberian and Roman eras before reaching the rustic medieval times. There are loads of high value educational movies in every thematic room prepared for your viewing pleasure.

There are permanent exhibition centers and temporary exhibition pieces at the MARQ museum. The temporary exhibitions are regularly showcased with different themes and offerings. For example, April-October 2011 temporary exhibition is showcasing the amazing Russian Treasures which is a spectacular sight. This exhibition is made possible because of the alliance with Museum of Hermitage; there will be about five hundred pieces of Russian treasures over a few different periods as well as different Russian territories.

This temporary exhibition at Alicante is a great example how important and interesting world renowned archaeological collections can be viewed. Although these pieces are specially preserved in their original environment at the Hermitage museum in St. Petersburg, there is a fine collaboration between the relevant authorities to share the extensive research and results of artifacts from Russia and other neighboring countries.

MARQ museum is located at Doctor Gómez Plaza. Its opening hours are from Tuesdays to Saturdays from 10am to 7pm and Sundays as well as public holidays from 10am to 2pm. It is closed on Mondays. It is only 3 euros for the villa spanien museum entry; however, the cost to MARQ museum, Tossal and Illeta is only 4 euros whereas the charges would be more if individual entries are purchased.

Jerez La Frontera And Its Attractions

A holiday destination

If you need a holiday destination in Spain, don’t hesitate to choose Jerez la Frontera. Jerez became renowned due to the fact that it is the home of sherry, but also the home of brandy; these are known as being English drinks and the English influence is felt even in the name of the city: Jerez instead of Xerez.  Jerez la Frontera is a very pleasant and elegant town, a prosperous one that will attract you with the numerous wine bodegas and the sightseeing spots which are representative either for an architectural style or for telling short stories of its past. Life seems very relaxed and quite here, but things get more energetic and lively with the famous May Horse Fair, one of the most popular fiestas in Spain. Perhaps you haven’t heard about Jerez due to the sherry and the brandy, but due to the impressive flamenco tradition; this amazing tradition, representative for the entire country, managed to survive here despite all the obstacles that appeared in its way. The Andaluz Flamenco Centre is one of the ‘’must see’’ stops on your list, as it will help you understand everything you need to know about this amazing type of dancing and music.

Other attractions

If you want to have an active holiday, then you can choose a sherry or a brandy processes tour; you have to know one small detail: August is not the month for that, because it represents the month when everything closes down in this industry. You should choose Gonzales Byass, the maker of the famous and extremely popular Tio Pepe brand or the Pedro Domecq, the one who produces the wonderful La Ina. If you want to go sightseeing in the city, make sure you visit the San Salvador Cathedral, a spectacular example of Gothic and Renaissance architectural style. The Archaeological Museum should be another stop for you, especially if you are interested in history and the past of the places you visit. Since you are in Jerez, you have to try the delicious Spanish traditional food, so enter a tapas bar, as you will fall in love with the dishes served there. For accommodation, you can choose the Jerez Hotel, as it has great facilities and services or the Guadalete Hotel, located in a residential area of the town, very close to the ferienhaus spanien beaches. I am sure you will have a spectacular holiday, so enjoy!
